About our your to Pedra do Telégrafo (Telegraph's Rock)

The Pedra do Telégrafo (Telegraph’s Rock) is located in Guaratiba, west side of Rio de Janeiro. The place has a lovely view of the beautiful city, in on one side we see some wild beaches and the Tijuca Forest in the background. On the other side, we have a privileged view of the Restinga of Marambaia, a huge beach with big swamp area.

The trail takes approximately 1 hour to climb(one way), its summit is 354 meters above sea level. Returning from Pedra do Telégrafo (Telegraph’s Rock) to the city we will stop for a bath at Grumari and after we will drive trough all the beaches along the coast of Rio with many opportunities to take photos.

A little history of Telegraph's Rock

During the Second World War this place was a military post for observing enemy ships, preventing attacks on the Brazilian coast.
