About our hiking tour to Pedra da Gávea
Pedra da Gávea (Gávea Stone) offers the most magnificent view of Rio de Janeiro. Its unique summit immediately catches the eye of anyone arriving in the city. Standing over 800 meters tall, this iconic peak has always been a landmark for navigators due to its prominent location and distinctive features. According to some local legends the rock is a visiting place for extra-terrestrials as well as being a portal to other dimensions.
The trail begins in Barra and passes through Tijuca National Park takes you to the top of the world’s largest seaside monolith (a single massive stone or rock of gneiss and granite).
Near the summit, there is a easy climbing section known as Carrasqueira, which spans approximately 30 meters. Rio Natural provides all the necessary climbing gear to ensure a safe and enjoyable ascent.
